What podcast editing actually involves
A video podcast episode takes six to ten hours of skilled post-production. That figure surprises people who have only edited audio, so it is worth being specific about where the time goes.
The multicam edit is the bulk of it. Every camera change is a judgement about who the viewer should be watching and when, and that decision gets made hundreds of times across a single episode. Get it wrong and the conversation feels flat even when the content is good.
Audio treatment is not clean-up, it is construction. Levelling between speakers who sat at different distances from their microphones, removing room noise without hollowing out the voice, and cutting the filler that makes a sharp answer sound uncertain.
Then the visual layer: colour grading so the cameras match, the thumbnail, and the trailer cut. We wrote up the full step-by-step in what post-production does to your recording.
Turnaround
Turnaround is agreed against the brief before work starts. You know the delivery date when you send the files, not after. If you have a publishing schedule to hold, tell us what it is and we will confirm whether we can hit it before you commit.
Already recording
Most of our clients record themselves and need the production handled. That is the work we are built for.
Riverside, Descript, Zoom, Teams, or separate camera and audio files from an in-person shoot: send the files however they came off the recording. You do not need to organise, rename, or pre-edit anything. Handing over a folder of raw files is the point.
If you also need the recording captured, we run shoot days at £800 per day.
What is not included
- Hosting and distribution. We can point you to the right part of the Cardboard Creative group.
- Guest booking and research.
- Platform and channel management.
We do production. Everything else, we know where to send you.
Who we work with
Founders, brands, and media professionals who have a show running and need it produced properly. Recent work includes Founder Stories, Conservation Chronicles for Lancashire Wildlife Trust, and Eat Sleep Ride. You can see the work here.
